Our Story

Blue Ridge is Born

HANDCRAFTED LOG FURNITURE

The inspiration for the name “Blue Ridge” came from Blue Ridge Mountain, a favorite hiking & camping spot we’ve enjoyed for years near Grand Lake, Colorado.

My good friend and brother-in-law Greg Gardner & I gained valuable experience in handmade custom wood and log furniture construction as we were working for a local log home builder. We became fascinated with the opportunities to create furniture from logs. Also, a large forest fire several years earlier on family property left acres of dead standing trees perfect for log furniture and an opportunity we could not pass up.

As we began building handmade wood & log furniture pieces for friends & family the great response & increasing demand for our furniture led to the formation of Blue Ridge Log Works in 1990. We started out in a small workshop located near the base of Blue Ridge Mountain.

Our furniture is now manufactured in Northern Colorado near where most of our wood comes from. All pieces are handmade and our furniture is built with care and quality to last for years to come.

A Fort Collins Fixture SINCE 1994

In 1994, we relocated the custom wood and log furniture business to Ft. Collins. Greg stayed in Grand County working in the construction industry in addition to building his own beautiful log cabin in the mountains. My family & I moved to Ft. Collins (just an hour east of Rocky Mountain National Park) and have been here ever since.

To this day, we are still a small family owned and operated business. We have been building handcrafted wood and log bed and tables for satisfied customers for over 25 years now.

Over time we have developed 3 different collections of rustic furnishings totaling more than 120 original items to choose from … items for every room in the house! Much of our work is custom made, and whether you select one of our designs or one of your own, each piece of wood and log furniture is custom made for you one at a time.

Don’t hesitate to contact us with questions or comments. We appreciate your feedback and we’d love to hear from you. Thanks again for the opportunity to assist your handmade wood and log beds, table, and other furniture needs.

Sincerely,

Bill House
